On Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail. Start at mile post 0 at the Rt 605 Trailhead, run just past mile post 15.5, then back to the finish at mile post 0. From Start to Mile 4.0 - From Start to Lambs Creek Church Rd, some crushed stone and rails are still in place. Section between Lambs Creek Church Rd has crushed stone and pine needles. Nicest part of trail with pine tree canopy. For Miles 4.0 to 8.1 - Parts of the trail is crushed stone. Other parts of the trail has 1 inch stone gravel in most of this section. Large stone gravel is hard on your feet. A few railroad ties are still in the ground. For Miles 8.1 to 10.8 - Starting out of Indian Town, trail is crush stone. Then changes to 1 inch stone and some grassy areas. Mile 10.9 goes under Rt 218. For Miles 10.9 to 12.5 - Rail ties were removed from this section of trail in summer of 2011. Surface in areas is loose one inch gravel that has not been packed down. A few overgrown parts. For Miles 12.5 to 15.5 - Rail ties were removed from this section of the trail in summer of 2011. This section is the worst part of the trail. Lumpy and overgrown in parts For Miles 15.5 to 18.5 - Reverse of Miles 12.5 to 15.5 For Miles 18.5 to 20.1 - Reverse of Miles 10.9 to 12.5 For Miles 20.1 to 22.9 - Reverse of Miles 8.1 to 10.9 For Miles 22.9 to 27.0 - Reverse of Miles 4.0 to 8.1 For Miles 27.0 to Finish - Reverse of Miles Start to 4.0
Aid Station 1 (Start) - Water, coffee Aid Stations 2, 3, 6 & 9 - Water, Gatorade, Soda, Salty Snacks, Sugary Snacks, Fruit Aid Stations 4 & 8 - No aid provided by race management. Aid provided by crews only. Aid Stations 5, 7 & 11 - Water, Gatorade, Soda, Salty Snacks, Sugary Snacks, Fruit, Sandwiches Aid Stations 10 & 12 - Water, Gatorade Aid Station 13 (Finish) - Water, Gatorade, Soda, Salty Snacks, Sugary Snacks, Burgers
Runners may leave a drop bag for access at Indiantown and Wal-Mart Aid Stations. Runners should leave their drop bag at the designated location at the start line between 5:30 and 6:00am on race day. Drop bags may be picked up at Wal-Mart until 10:30am and Indiantown until 12:30pm and will be returned to Rt 605 by 1:15pm.
Crews may meet runners at Aid Station #6. There is plenty of parking at this aid station in the northern edge of the Wal-Mart parking lot. The actual aid station is about 1/2 mile from the parking lot.
Crews may walk to Rt 218 Aid Station #4 & #8 which is about 1/3 miles from Caledon on Rt 218. The shoulder on Rt 218 does not exist in spots. Walk facing traffic. There is no race management support or traffic control at this location. To access the trail, there is a steep spur on the western side of the road bridge. When parking at Caledon, you will need to pay the $3 one day pass fee. There is no parking on Rt 218.
Little Ark Babtist Church in Owens is at mile post 15.0. You may not park at the church or access the trail from this location. Any crew parking and accessing the trail in this area will be ticketed and their runner dq'd.
